A MONDAY MOMENT IN ROTARY
FOR DISTRICT 6580
JULY 9, 2007

Dear 6580 Rotarians,
Congratulations and best wishes as we begin a new Rotary year together. I appreciate your commitment to Rotary and our District and look forward to serving with you. I plan to send a weekly note, which will keep you abreast of activities important to Rotary. If you have information that you would like included in this document or in our monthly district newsletter THE SIGN, please let me know. I’m counting on your participation.
· Rotary theme for July is LITERACY. There are all kinds of program presentations possible on this topic and Rotary is known for projects that improve the life of children at home and abroad.
· Weekly Rotary Foundation Thoughts can be downloaded from www.rotary.org/newsroom/downloadcenter/foundation/erey.html. This is an excellent resource for including a Rotary Foundation fact during your weekly meeting or in your club newsletter.
· Club Officer and Contact Information Changes should be sent to both me and Rotary International. It is important to keep this current to assure ongoing communication.
· It’s not too late to register for the July 20-21 special RI Presidential Membership Conference in Nashville , TN. Go to http://membership.rizones20-30.com for registration information.
· Due Dates for July 1 – 15
July 1 ~ Youth Exchange Commitment form for ’08-09 due to Karin Harter (karinharter@voyager.net)
~ Planning Guide for Effective Rotary Clubs should have been submitted to your Assistant Governor.
This document is very important for your club to complete.
July 10 ~ Attendance Report due to website
This week I will begin my official visits as your District Governor. I have asked Club Presidents to schedule no other program during my visit. I would like to meet with your club President for about 15 minutes and club leadership for approx. 45 minutes before or after this meeting to learn more about your club’s activities and plans for the year.
· This week’s DG schedule: Tuesday, July 10 – Rotary Club of Martinsville for their changeover. Wednesday, July 11 – Rotary Club of Washington , Thurs. - Sunday, July 12- 15 – Central States Youth Exchange Summer Conference in Grand Rapids .
