Welcome to Rotary District 6580!
District Governor Sue Wright
"February is Peace & Conflict Prevention/Resolution Month"
Rotary is dedicated to six areas of focus to build international relationships, improve lives and create a better world to support our peace efforts.
This month our focus will be on Promoting Peace. Rotary encourages conversations and fosters understanding within and across cultures. Our goal should be to make our communities places where we respect each other so we can live together in peace.
Let us not forget Rotary International's Mission: We provide service to others, promote integrity, and advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through our fellowship of business, professional, and community leaders.
As our country continues to struggle with diversity and inclusion, I hope all Rotarians will take a moment in February to recognize the importance of Black History month to help bridge that struggle. “My humanity is bound up in yours, for we can only be human together.” —Desmond Tutu
As part of Rotary's focus to promote peace, Rotary trains adults and young leaders to prevent and mediate conflict and help refugees who have fled dangerous areas. Our district supports that effort by selecting a young leader to represent Rotary District 6580 as they study and work abroad. The District Global Grant Scholarship Committee met on January 26th to select our district scholarship recipient for 2019-2020. The official announcement will be made by Past District Governor Jim Bright once the Rotary Foundation approves our final choice and a host Rotary club is chosen in the overseas country.
We are Rotarians, ready to join other leaders to exchange ideas and take action in our communities and around the world. Let us continue our journey to leave a lasting legacy to "Be The Inspiration."
